iOS 7.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Release: iPhone Hackers PanGu Claim To Make Jailbreak Tool Download Available 'Soon'

iOS 7.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Release: iPhone Hackers PanGu Claim To Make Jailbreak Tool Download Available 'Soon'

The latest iOS software may soon be jailbreakable. PanGu will soon be releasing to the public an iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak (Photo: Youtube )

The iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone has been highly sought after for a while. The numerous updates to performance and UI introduced in iOS 7.1 back in March mainly benefitted users. Though at the price of being un-jailbreakable by the famed Evad3rs's tool launched last holiday, many Cydia users were left without the ability to install their favorite tweaks and apps. But that may change if PanGu has anything to say about it. The Chinese iOS hacker group showed off a jailbroken iPhone 5s running the latest software (found via Reddit). In the second part of the video we see the same device being rebooted -- indicating that PanGu was in fact running an iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak.

Update 6.22.2014: The video has since been removed from Youtube "as a violation of Youtube's policy against spams, scams," etc. Not looking good for this whole 'PanGu iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak release.'

It's very possible that PanGu is looking to make available their iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak findings, though we wouldn't start the fanfare just yet. For one, we don't know anything about PanGu. iOS jailbreakers like the Evad3rs have been known in the jailbreak community for a while. PanGu could have perfectly good intentions though we'd wait a bit before installing their iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak tool right away. Apple touted iOS security in theirlatest WWDC keynote, though unlocking your main device from an unknown source could definitely lead to some trouble down the road.

iOS 7.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Vs. iOS 8 Jailbreak

The iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak has never been impossible, simply unreleased. Videos like this one have surfaced in the past showing that it's not even difficult to jailbreak Apple's latest software. One of the main reasons to keep the iOS 7.1 jailbreak in few people's hands would be to make sure Cupertino doesn't close any holes used to exploit the software. Not releasing the iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak makes things easier on the Evad3rs and other iOS hackers interested in releasing a jailbreak for iOS 8. The upcoming iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch software coming this fall comes with many features jailbreakers have come to expect. Though without tweaks likeActivatorNitrousWinterboard and more, we're still going to want that iOS 8 untethered jailbreak eventually. Until then we'll have to wait for the iOS 7.1 edition. It's still up in the air whether we can trust in PanGu's jailbreak tool or if it will even spoil the possibility of a jailbroken iOS 8. Let's just hope we can have our jailbroken cake and eat it too.
Are you looking forward to the potential release of an iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak? Would you rather wait for the jailbreak of iOS 8? Sound off below!
